Some of the biggest names of British boxing were at Allianz Park yesterday evening for a testimonial dinner for the late Jim Oliver, in what was billed as a “Night of Champions”.
Stellar names such as Riddick Bowe, Steve Collins, Michael Watson, and Jimmy Oliver’s son Former European Champion Spencer Oliver were all in attendance for the testimonial dinner and raffle.
“My Father Jim was a massive man in boxing” explained Oliver. “He fought for numerous World, Commonwealth, European and Olympic championships and we’re here to remember his life after he unfortunately passed away five weeks ago”
“The Boxing world wanted to remember my father in some way and all this has been put together in a matter of weeks – It’s a lovely venue and as a stadium it has provided a fantastic setting for a send-off to my father”.
Also in attendance at the event was SkySports Boxing pundit and former IBF Cruiserweight Champion Glenn McCrory ; “It great venue at what is great club with a great tradition, but most of all I’m proud to be here tonight to honour a great man of boxing” said the 48 year-old.
