Allianz Park has been announced as the Small Venue of the Year at the annual Stadium Business Summit Awards in Manchester.
The new home of Saracens was short-listed alongside the Adler-Arena in Russia, the New York Stadium in Rotherham, the Netanya Municipal Stadium in Israel, the NV Arena in Austria and the Gallagher Stadium in Maidstone.
In announcing the winner, the judges said: “It’s a brave move to put in synthetic turf for rugby and other sports but it has proven to be the key to more pitch use and multi-purpose events calendar at this new stadium. Not only that… this is the kind of small venue with ʻbig ideasʼ that we like: global naming right partner; pushing new event concepts; engaging with the local – and international – community.”
Saracens have also been shortlisted for the Beyond Sport Club of the Year Award following 350 applications from sports clubs around the world. This award recognizes the social impact of professional sports clubs and brands and the winner will be announced at the Beyond Sport Summit in Philadelphia, USA, in September.
