Ashton hails 'great day' after try double
Chris Ashton produced a try scoring master class in Saracens’ 46-22 win over DHL Western Province.
The free scoring wing scored two trademark poachers efforts in the first half in a superb personal performance.
Speaking after the game, Ashton said; “I really enjoyed out there today. A lot of the lads have had a week off in the LV=Cup so it’s been really good for us to get run out against quality opposition in preparation for a tough game away to Leicester Tigers. It was good to face different opposition from South Africa, they have some big strong boys and I felt we did well.
"The second try was probably more enjoyable. I got the inside ball from Charlie and was much happier finishing that one. The first try I just followed Neil de Kock, he did all the work.
“I always like playing at Allianz Park. In the last couple of days there’s been a lot of rain so it was great to get out there today and play in the sunshine. The pitch is perfect for playing rugby on and so were the conditions. All in all, it’s been a great day for Saracens.”
He added; “I’m really enjoying playing at the moment. Me and Stretts (David Strettle) have scored a few tries and that’s down to the way the lads have been playing. We’re really fortunate to be on the end of a good team at the minute.”
