Saracens winger Chris Ashton visited a very special fan of his over the festive period, when the England winger popped into see Luis Ghaut.
Lewis is suffering from a form of bone cancer called Osteosarcoma, and has been a fan of Saracens’ joint all-time Heineken Cup try scorer for some time.
Luis’ Dad, Lee Ghaut; “Chris had been one of Luis’s sporting heroes way back when he played on the wing for Wigan Warriors and when Northampton Saints signed him, Luis was very excited to see him play at Franklin Gardens.
“We’ve both closely followed his union career (club and international duty) and was obviously disappointed when he left Northampton to join Saracens but Chris still remained one of Luis’s favourite players.
“For Chris to pop round to our house and play a surprise visit, was a dream come true for Luis. Chris spent around an hour asking Luis the background to his cancer (Osteosarcoma) and how his treatment was going. But when Chris presented his England shirt that he wore for his 30th cap Luis was over the moon!
“We are in the process of framing it ready to put up in his bedroom.
“Luis’s chemotherapy treatment should be finished by the end of March and he was therefore hoping to reunite with Chris at Allianz Park when Northampton visit on April 12th” added Mr Ghaut.
