Ashton relishing 'Shed' experience
Chris Ashton says he is relishing playing in front of 'The Shed' once again, when Saracens travel to face Gloucester on Friday night in round 13 of the Aviva Premiership.
The prolific wing has been sparking form for Saracens this season, and will line-up against England-wing incumbent Jonny May on Friday evening in a clash Ashton believes is one to savour.
“There’s quite a few match-ups out there on Friday, as both sides have two very strong line-ups” said Ashton. “I’ll be up against Jonny (May), who has the England shirt at the moment, so it will be an interesting contest between ourselves and it’s one I’m really looking forward to.
“With the Shed, they always get on your back. It’s one of the old traditional grounds where you still get that, and it’s something I actually quite enjoy. You don’t get that at too many places now, and they’re one of a handful of clubs who still have it. I’m really looking forward to going to Kingsholm on Friday night, it should be good game."
On Friday night’s opponents Gloucester’s recent form, Ashton added: “It was great result for them away to Exeter last weekend, but they were a very good side before that result, so our preparation hasn’t changed. We’ve had a good couple of weeks, with a couple of good wins, so we’ve been concentrating on our own game and have been looking to improve on a few things."
He added: "They have some key players in their side, and I’m sure they want to kick on now as they have top four ambitions. It will be a close contest."
