Centre Brad Barritt could hardly hide his delight following his return to the Saracens starting line-up in the 29-8 victory against Gloucester on Saturday.
Having missed all but one game of the 2013/14 season through injury, Barritt returned from the bench against Worcester Warriors over Christmas and he followed that up with an impressive 80 minutes at Kingsholm as Saracens maintained their first place in the Aviva Premiership table.
“I am delighted. It is fantastic to be back,” Barritt said. “I am very grateful to the Saracens strength and conditioning department and physio department for working tirelessly to get me back and have me in good shape to hit the ground running.”
Tries from Neil de Kock, David Strettle and Alex Goode earned the victory in the West Country, but now all eyes are focused on the return to Heineken Cup action on Sunday and the trip to Toulouse in round five of the competition.
Barritt added: “To be part of a great performance at Gloucester was very special. Contributing to a good performance and a great away win for Saracens is what’s important. We will now look to take the next step forward next week with a huge game away against Toulouse.
“This team is obviously very positive, playing some fantastic rugby, and we just want to keep that winning momentum up.”
