Saracens Academy number 8 Hayden Stringer says he has been enjoying rubbing shoulders with the ‘big characters’ in the Saracens senior squad during preseason training.
“Coming from last preseason at college to this preseason at Saracens is such a big step for anyone coming through the academy” says the 18 year old.
“The professionalism, the skill level, the work rate; it’s all massively improved and from my point of view the progression I have made in my fitness, my strength and my skill set is already noticeable”.
Stringer, who along with fellow academy players Nathan Earle and Josh Sharp have been named in the England Under 18s squad to tour South Africa next month, is thankful for the extra help he has received since he began training alongside the senior squad this preseason.
“The help that we get to do extras or to help out with nutrition really gives us a big stepping stone as a young rugby player at Saracens to keep improving and going forward.
“On a whole I’m really enjoying preseason getting to know everyone training with such big characters in the senior squad being able to ask them for extra help or what I need to work on. Everyone in the squad is easy to approach and to speak to. I’m really excited for the rest of the season to keep improving and moving forward as a player”.
