Saracens lock forward Mouritz Botha is hoping of a repeat result of the last time Saracens played the Scarlets in the LV=Cup; when they ran out 34-7 winners at the Parc y Scarlets in January 2011.
“We played the Scarlets a few years ago in this competition over in west Wales and that game was a real season turner for us at the time, so we know how important games like this can be” revealed Botha.
“We’ve got some fond memories of playing them but they won’t mean anything on Sunday – they’re a very confrontational side, that like to get in your faces in defence with their line speed. They have an ability to strike from anywhere so we know that there cannot be a time to switch off; we must remained focused and aware that they can hurt you from anywhere on the pitch.”
Botha starts his third consecutive game in the Saracens engine room, and the 10 capped England international is hoping to make his mark after experiencing an injury hit opening to the 2013/14 season.
“Hopefully I can kick on and get a place in the team” Botha said.
“I’ve had a few injuries and concussions already this season, so it has been pretty stop start in terms of getting enough game time under my belt to really push for a first team spot”.
“Saracens have some incredible strength and depth at lock, so games like Sunday’s give me the chance to show the coaches what I can bring to the party” Botha added.
