Saracens flanker Jacques Burger has been named as the Premiership player of the Month for September.
Burger has been back to his menacing best in the Sarries back row, with the Nambian picking up two Man of the Match awards in the games against Bath and Harlequins, as well having starring roles in the matches against Lonbdon Irish and Gloucester.
Premiership Rugby ambassador Austin Healey said; “He has played with a hunger that can only be born out of a frustrating 18 months of injury”.
“Both he and Saracens should be very proud of sticking through what I’m sure will have been dark times whilst getting back to full fitness.”
The shortlist was compiled by a panel of media professionals – Nick Mullins (BT Sport), Alastair Eykyn (BT Sport), Mick Cleary (Daily Telegraph), Ian Stafford (Mail on Sunday), Jill Douglas (ITV Sport), Chris Jones (Radio 5 Live), David Rogers (Getty Images) and Ben Coles (Planet Rugby) and Alan Pearey (Rugby World). The panel was chaired by Paul Morgan Premiership Rugby’s Communication Director.
