Saracens Sport Foundation Tag Festivals – North London & Hertfordshire
North London Tag Finals
The 25th of June saw the dawn of a new morning, the crowning of the 2012/13 North London Tag CHAMPIONS!
Schools representing Barnet, Harrow, Brent and Enfield qualified to take part in this prestigious event by coming in the top 4 of their respective Tag Festivals earlier in the season.
At 12 noon, 130 children descended upon Allianz Park, tagged and booted up. They took to the pitch and within seconds all teams were demonstrating why they were worthy qualifiers. The passion in their eyes, the majestic footwork, and incredible hands made the festival a pleasure to watch for spectators.
As the festival drew to an end, only 2 teams remained, Merryhills, who had lost just 1 game in the pool stages and Grange Park, a wild card. In an extremely well contested Final, Merryhills ran out winners and collected the silverware with a 6 – 5 victory to be named North London Tag Champions!
Hertfordshire Tag Finals
Oaklands College was the destination for 21 schools competing in the Hertfordshire Tag Championship Finals on the 27th of June.
Schools across the county had proven themselves in their respective festivals having made the finals thus securing an ‘invite only’ attendance to take part. One again it was an incredible day out with all of the teams playing to a great standard of tag on show by all those involved!
Soon there were 2 teams remaining and having played their hearts out, were worthy of playing in the final. Lordship Farm faced up against Morgans School in a thrilling game where a close fought match ended with Lordship Farm running out eventual winners by two points and Champions of Hertfordshire!
