Sport for Health Programme
Sport for Health, Saracens Sport Foundation's award winning programme, was developed in partnership with agencies across the education and health sectors to help tackle the increasing issue of obesity amongst children. The programme aims to improve both the quality and quantity of school sport and PE as well as teaching children the benefits of leading a more active and healthy lifestyle. With funding from Well Being in the East, the programme is constantly evolving to fit in with research findings as they are published.
Each participating school receives six weeks of activities that include tag rugby sessions, multi-skill lessons, family ‘Health for All’ session, teacher training, school assemblies about physical activity and healthy eating, a visit from a professional Saracens player and participation in a Saracens sports festival. As part of the Saracens ‘Get Active’ Challenge Year 4 pupils are challenged to complete 1 hour of physical activity every day for three weeks. They also commit to taking on the Saracens Healthy Eating Challenge, where Year 3 students are challenged to eat more fruit and vegetables each day.
