NSPCC Anti-Bullying Campaign
Since September 2008 Premier Rugby & Saracens have joined up with NSPCC to promote a new anti-bullying programme which will help over quarter of a million children to tackle bullying throughout all of England.
Coaches from Saracens Community team will be delivering the programme in 30 primary schools throughout Hertfordshire. Tag Rugby games will be used to help children to identify what bullying actually is, and what impacts it can have on people's lives. Each child will also receive information about Childline, and some pointers about what to do if you are bullying, or being bullied. Steve Borthwick is Saracens ambassador on the programme, and he endorsees the messages that the children will receive.
Steve commented:
"Kids get singled out for all sorts of reasons and sometimes bullies will have a go at you just because you're seen as being big and tough. Being part of a team where everyone is different means you need to play to each other's strengths and work together to get a winning result. "No one should put up with being bullied but you have to deal with it safely. Sometimes you might not agree with a team mate, but it's vital that differences are sorted out with the coach in a respectful manner and that people aren't left bearing grudges. I'm really looking forward to working with children through the ChildLine partnership and helping with Kicking Bullying Into Touch."
