Saracens Community Dance Programme
Saracens award winning Community Dance Programme which is sponsored by Everyone Active, and engages children and young people of all ages aiming to provide high quality dance that is beneficial to the participants, our partners and the Sports Foundation. In May 2009, the Community Dance Programme was awarded the Sportbusiness CSR Award and in March 2010 it won the Participation Programme of the Year Award at the Parliamentary Citizenship Awards for Rugby.
Our Community Dance Manager Clare Bellchambers works with a dedicated team of part time cheerleading and dance coaches who strive to promote a healthy lifestyle for children and adults and help to increase their participation in movement, dance and exercise.
The Dance Programme offers a variety of styles and forms of dance including: Cheerleading, Street Cheer, Street Dance, Hip Hop, Contemporary and our innovative new programme Love to Dance which targets the over 50s for social dance sessions. Any of these can be run as Days of Dance, Teacher Training INSETS, Dance Camps, Breakfast, Lunch and After School Clubs, Children’s Parties. At a Day of Dance a Saracens coach will attend a local school for the entire school day and give all year groups a taster of cheerleading including stunts, hip-hop cheerleading and pompom dancing. Previous participants have enjoyed the Days of Dance so much that they have signed up to 8 weeks of extracurricular classes and even onto our intensive dance camps.
The Saracens Dance Programme offers key benefits to the community that include helping to combat the rising levels of obesity and other health issues, whilst working to improve fundamental movement skills. Participants that have taken part in the dance programme will find that they increase their flexibility, range of movements and coordination, whilst improving their core strength, agility and stamina and have the opportunity to develop their team working and communication skills.
Don't just take our word for it…
"The Saracens Dance Programme has engaged hundreds of children who do not usually
participate in extra curricular activity. It has made a significant impact on the
participation rates of girls and Special Educational Needs (SEN) pupils. The quality
of delivery and the enthusiasm shown by the instructors is outstanding."
