Yesturday saw the 2013/14 Tag Programme come to an end in North London, with the North London Tag Finals hosted at Hendon RFC.
All 10 teams taking part were finalists from their boroughs festival held across the past season in; Barnet, Harrow, Brent and Enfield, the prize in question was to be crowed overall winners of the North London area for 2014.
With the expected standard already high in quality, it was no suprise that all the pool games would be close, with most of the high scoring affairs being decided on a single try. It was however St Bernadattes of Harrow and Dollis Jnrs of Barnet who ran away with both pools, SB winning every single game and scoing and incredible 33 tires in the process, with Dollis not far behind with a comfterable3 point difference in their pool, St Andrews of Enfield and Foulds o Barnet were the respected runners up out of the poolsleading to a high tempo penulitmate draw. Unbeliveably both Semi finals finished 7-7 and went to the very “luck of the draw” chance of a golden try to decide the final, with Dollis Jnr & St Andrews taking fixture, once again the 10 min game fell to the golden try decider, showing just how close the entire day was, Dollis winning the restart coin toss and making no mistake in finishing a very well worked try to take the crown.
“It was a great display of what the Tag Programme is about, with hardley a dropped ball or a mistake in sight, anyone of the teams playing today could have won the final, it was that close! a very big congratulations to all that were taking part once again showing how far Tag rugby has come in North London, with next seasons expectations to be even higher.”
