Petrus du Plessis produced an outstanding scrumming performance during the second half against Bedford on Friday evening, and the tighthead prop is looking forward to the new season.
“Life is about taking your chances when they come along,” said the South-African born forward. “We have developed a strong squad over the past few years, and everybody is obviously eager to play in every match. The key challenge is to embrace every training session as an opportunity to improve and to be ready when required.”
Du Plessis arrived in north London towards the end of the 2009-10 season, recruited from Nottingham to resolve a crisis in the front row. He effectively saved that campaign as Saracens advanced to their first ever Premiership final, narrowly losing in the dying seconds to Leicester, and he has barely put a foot wrong ever since.
