Saracens recent game against the Leicester Tigers at Allianz Park was not just a resounding success on the field but also off it.
Both supporters of Saracens as well as the traveling Tigers fans contributed over half a ton of non-perishable food for the Colindale food bank. Fans were encouraged to bring canned goods to the game in the lead up to the Christmas period and Douglas Pollyn of the Colindale food bank thanked fans for their generosity;
“The collection on the 21st was indeed a record breaker. We took in more food in 2-3hours on the day than we had ever collected in all our previous supermarket collections.
“We collected a total of 792Kg of food which is well over half a ton. This is the quantity of food we will usually get over 10-12hour period at the supermarkets.
Mr Pollyn added;“Our team is delighted about this fantastic result and look forward to continuing to make a difference in our community – we would will like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who donated food, and the management of the Saracens Rugby Club”.
