About Us
Background
The Saracens Sport Foundation is the charitable arm of Saracens and was established in 2000 to help build a legacy for sport within our community. We aim to enhance the lives of children and young people through sport, physical activity and health promotion activities. We use the Saracens brand, professional players and high quality staff to inspire and challenge children to live an active and healthy lifestyle, whilst understanding the benefits of doing so. Our work focuses on creating effective partnerships, forging links with a wide range of local, regional and national agencies. The Foundation strives to implement innovative, effective and high quality programmes that provide real value to our beneficiaries and help meet the objectives of our partners.
In 2005/06 alone our programmes and services engaged over 22,000 children and young people, 400 teachers, 260 primary schools and 35 secondary schools in high quality activities. The Saracens Sport Foundation has received considerable recognition for its work, winning the 2005 Contribution to the Community award at the Watford and North-West London Business Awards and the 2005/06 Parliamentary Rugby Citizenship Award, acknowledging our outstanding contribution to our community.
Saracens, more than any other rugby club, show how professional sport has a positive impact in dealing with social issues. British business should take a closer look at what professional sport is doing and get more involve.
Derek Wyatt MP, Chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Rugby Group.
