2013/14 saw the Saracens Tag Rugby Programme deliver the highest attended year since the programme begun with over 5,500 pupils from Hertfordshire and North London primary schools taking part in borough festivals at their local rugby clubs.
The upcoming season will see a total of 23 Saracens Tag Festivals being held over 20 school partnership areas, giving year 5 and 6 pupils the opportunity to showcase their newly developed skills and compete against other local primary schools.
These festivals are hosted by local rugby clubs, providing pupils with a pathway from school to club and long-term participation in rugby. The Tag Programme will also continue in the Hertfordshire County Final where one school is crowned Saracens Tag Rugby Champions.
The Tag Programme is not just focused on pupils! Every primary schools teacher within our community is given the opportunity to attend a Saracens “Ready for Rugby” teacher training session. This helps build teacher confidence in delivering tag rugby throughout the year giving a long lasting and continued legacy beyond the Tag Programme, making competition success greater throughout.
