Three of Saracens Global Network sides were in action over the weekend, as teams in Brazil, Romania and Russia all recorded victories.
In Brazil, away from all the FIFA World Cup fervour, Sao Paulo Saracens defeated Rio Branco 22-12 in Paulista Championship.
In Romania, Timisoara Saracens defeated league leaders Baia Mare 18 – 3 in their first pool match of the Romanian Cup.
Victory was achieved without 15 players on international duty or unavailable through injury, which left coach Danie de Villiers with only 18 available players.
Eight Timisoara Saracens players were included in the Romanian squad for the IRB Nations Cup in Bucharest, where the Oaks beat Uruguay 34 – 16 in the inaugural match.
Russia, with nine VVA Moscow Saracens players in the squad, lost 66 – 0 to Emerging Ireland in the same competition.
However, even with a depleted squad, VVA Saracens defeated Imperia Penza away 58 – 8 in the Russian league, climbing to third in the table.
