Ben Ransom will be in familiar surroundings this evening, when he takes to the field against Bedford Blues at Goldington Road, kick-off 19h45.
The quicksilver full back was a member of the Bedford side that made the Championship play-off final in 2013 and is looking forward to returning to face the Blues and some familiar faces, as Saracens finalise their pre-season preparations on the eve of the 2014/15 season.
“The season is nearly upon us, so I’m pretty excited to be playing against a good team with some really talented players that we know well,” said Ransom.
“Jared Saunders and I are old housemates, so to be lining up against him will be interesting, but I don’t want to meet him on the pitch as he’s a big guy (laughs)”.
He added; “Nathan Earle will be playing for them fresh off the back of an impressive England U20s campaign plus Nick Fenton-Wells will be involved. Nick is now captain at Bedford and is a superb player and someone I’ve played alongside both here at Saracens and at Bedford, so we know they have some real quality from first-hand experience that can really test us”.
On Saracens pre-season so far Ransom added; “Pre-season has been really exciting. Getting back in at June and meeting all the new players, seeing guys you haven’t seen for a month and putting some hard work in has been great. We’re down to the crunch part of pre-season now. We’ve had two quality games against London Scottish and the Ospreys already, so it should be a good run-out at Bedford”.
