David Strettle praised Saracens fans after yesterdays win against the Newcastle Falcons.
“I love playing at Allianz Park” said the Warrington born winger, who has now scored ten tries in eight outings at Saracens new ground.
“There’s a real feel good atmosphere around the place. The fans give us so much energy, they really back us and it really spurs us on as a team – it really is a great place to play your rugby.
About yesterday’s result Strettle added; “It was important to go into the Premiership break with some momentum, so to get the result was very pleasing. I can only echo what Mark McCall said, it was a complete performance – there was some excellent individual performances and I think as a team we couldn’t be happier with the way we managed the game.
The current Premiership leading try scorer also praised full-back Alex Goode, who played a part in both of his tries; “I must give credit to the rest of the team as they keep providing me with opportunities to get over the try line – Alex has great vision, he is one of the finest full-back’s in England at reading a game, he showed that during yesterday and luckily I was the beneficiary on two occasions.
“I also thought Marcelo Bosch had a great home debut as well. He is some player, it was great to play outside him.
Strettle also praised Saracens fly-half Charlie Hodgson, after the 32 year-old scored 18 points in his first outing of the season.
“Charlie is still one of the finest fly-half’s in England, and is probably in my opinion, one of the best we’ve ever produced as a country” said Strettle.
“We’re very lucky that we have him and another world-class No.10 (Owen Farrell) at the club. It was great to have him back in the team – it was like he’s never been away.
“I’ve been lucky to play with Charlie with both England and Saracens and the way he controls a match and brings other players into the game is brilliant – it is a pleasure to play alongside him”.
