'I owe Richards a lot' - Strettle

David Strettle will be facing with his former coach Dean Richards today, when the prolific Saracens wing runs out to face a resurgent Newcastle Falcons side at Allianz Park.

Strettle was plucked from Championship side Rotherham by Newcastle Falcons Director of Rugby Richards when, who was then in charge of Harlequins. Strettle has since gone on to cement himself as one of Europe deadliest finishers during his time in the Premiership with both Quins and Saracens.

“I owe Dean Richards a lot,” said Strettle on the eve of the round 16 clash. “He was the Gentleman who gave me my chance in Premiership rugby for Quins when he was coach. He’s a brilliant coach, and you can tell how well Newcastle are playing under him.

“They have always been a tough team to play against. In every game I’ve played, they fight to the end. Even when we’ve been at opposite ends of the table, it’s a fixture that has always tested us. It was obviously a very disappointing result last weekend but we’ve spent all week trying to put a few wrongs right."

Strettle added, “I’m looking forward to getting back out there at Allianz Park, in front of our home crowd. It’ll be a test for us, but one we’re all looking forward to.”
