In-form George cream of the crop
Saracens director of rugby Mark McCall has praised the emergence of the club's younger players in a trophy laden season at Allianz Park, after his side beat Bath Rugby to secure a historic league and cup double.
After the north Londoners clinched the Aviva Premiership Final on Saturday, McCall lavished praise on the squads younger guard, with hooker Jamie George in particular being reserved for the Northern Irishman's praise.
Speaking after the game, McCall said: "Jamie showed today that he's an athlete as well as a brilliant set piece hooker. One of the great things this season is about how many people have emerged. Maro Itoje has come from nowhere to play in a Premiership final, George Kruis and Jamie George are in the England set up and that's fantastic."
In a superb personal performance from the Sarries No2, George's final display was also praised by Man of the Match Owen Farrell, and departing Saracens wing David Strettle.
Farrell: "I didn't think Jamie was going to make it [over the line] for a minute but thankfully he did. He's been brilliant for us all season. "
Strettle: "He had to stand up as Schalk Brits was injured at the start of the season and he did just that. A lot of the boys thought he should be in the England squad - and now he is. The boys are chuffed for him as he's played so well all year."
