Mako looks ahead to Stade Marcel-Michelin test
Mako Vunipola believes Sunday’s match-up against ASM Clermont is an occasion Saracens will have to rise to if they are to leave the Stade Marcel-Michelin with a win on Sunday afternoon.
The multi-talented loosehead heads into the game against Les Jaunards in fine form for north Londoners after a series of impressive performances in the saracens No1 shirt since his return to action from a long term knee injury.
Speaking before the game, Vunipola: “We’re very excited. It’s one of the places to go in Europe, and as a player it is one of those atmospheres you want to be involved in. They are renowned for a great crowd, who really get behind their team.
“For us as players it’s exciting times, we just can’t wait to get out there and play our rugby. Games like Sunday’s are the kind of games you used to dream about playing when you’re growing up.
“We’re happy with where we are at the moment. We know they are things to work on, we’re very pleased with the performance last weekend. All the things we worked on in the week came together, and we beat a strong side like Munster with a great performance. We can take a lot of confidence form that, and build-on it this weekend.”
He added: “Clermont are a step up and we have to match them this Sunday.”
