100 days to Rio: Team GB 7s to run out at Allianz Park ahead of Olympics
Allianz Park will play host to Olympic medal hopefuls this summer with the Team GB Sevens training squad confirmed for the Sevens and the City festival at Allianz Park on Saturday 2 July.
In a summer where the Sevens format will come into focus with its introduction into the Olympics Team GB Head Coach Simon Amor will bring his side to the home of Saracens to fine tune their game before travelling to Rio.
“The GB training programme begins in May and Sevens and the City plays an important role as we make step progressions through the summer,” said Amor.
“Entering two GB teams into the competition enables different combinations to be tested against international competition. We are looking forward to the event and working to ensure Team GB is in the best possible place come August.”
Now in its third year, Sevens and the City offers a unique blend of top class international sevens, four additional rugby Sevens events involving 70 teams, four netball tournaments including 48 teams.
