16/17 Champions Cup draw announced

The Champions Cup and Aviva Premiership winners, Saracens, have been drawn in Pool 3 of the European Rugby Champions Cup following the Pool Draws for EPCR's tournaments which took place today (Wednesday, 29 June) in Neuchâtel, Switzerland.

Saracens, who won the Champions Cup final last month in Lyon for the first time, will be up against RC Toulon (three-time tournament winners), Scarlets (the only Welsh region in the Champions Cup) and Sale Sharks, when the 2016/17 season kicks off in October.

Saracens faced Toulon in the 2013 Champions Cup semi-final, and the 2014 final and also faced the French giants in the 2009/10 Challenge Cup.

The Allianz Park side will also lock horns with Welsh region Scarlets. They have faced the Parc y Scarlets based side in the Anglo-Welsh Cup in recent seasons, with the last meeting in the 2013/14 LV=Cup at Allianz Park. Saracens haven’t faced a Welsh region in the Champions Cup Pool stages since being drawn alongside Ospreys in the 2011/12 season.

Saracens have faced Sale Sharks in the Champions Cup in the 2014/15 season, when they were drawn alongside ASM Clermont Auvergne and Munster in Pool 2 of the competition.
