Big Bash: Player of the Year Nominations Announced


The Big Bash will be a great opportunity for celebrating the successes of the whole team but also to acknowledge players who have made a particularly outstanding contribution this season. On the night one of the biggest awards to be handed out will be Player of the Season and the nominations are as follows:

Alex Goode

Alex Goode has been on scintillating form for Saracens this season. He has been a thorn in the side of many of Saracens rivals this year, impressing in attack with his metres made and clean breaks. Controlled game management has also singled Goode out from those around him and string of man of the match performances have further enforced the view held by many that Goode has been the form full back in England this season.

Maro Itoje

After captaining Saracens to LV Cup glory last season Maro has burst on to the wider rugby scene this year, impressing with his leadership skills, physicality and rugby prowess and attracting the attention of admirers across the rugby community. One of the brightest young talents in English rugby, Maro made his debut for England against Italy during the Six Nations, going on to put in a Man of the Match appearance against Wales in only his third international appearance.

George Kruis

With over 100 caps for Saracens, George Kruis is a key part of the Saracens core group who have progressed through the Club’s Academy to become firm fixtures in the senior side. The 15/16 season has been an impressive year for Kruis who became a regular in the England side during the Six Nations Kruis’ form at the lineout has been outstanding this season, particularly during the Champions Cup he and ran the England lineout with precision during the Six Nations.

Duncan Taylor

Duncan Taylor, or SuperDunc as he is known in the Saracens camp, is perhaps one of Saracens most underrated stars but also one of the most valued members of the Saracens team. His work rate is exceptional, he covers huge amounts of ground every game and this season he has transferred his form in a Saracens shirt to the international stage, impressing for Scotland with fine tries and crucial tackles during the Six Nations.

Billy Vunipola

Bulldozer, barnstorming, wrecking ball – there are many adjectives that have been used to describe Saracens number 8 Billy Vunipola this season. Since being named one of Eddie Jones’ vice captains for the Six Nations Vunipola’s game has gone from strength to strength this season. A seemingly unstoppable ball carrier, Vunipola’s game has matured this season making him one of the most powerful back row forces in the game.
