Captain's Comments - Alistair Hargreaves

First of all, it’s going to be great to run out at Allianz Park once again on Sunday. As a playing group it is always an honour to represent Saracens at our home ground, and recently the atmosphere here has been brilliant. As players we thrive on the support, the noise, and the passion of our supporters.  We’ll need more of the same at this weekend’s game, in what is bound to be another gruelling match against top opposition.

On a personal note it’s always tough sitting out of the action, but its part and parcel of the job. The fact that we have played with such energy, commitment and togetherness so far this season has really made it a joy to watch from the sidelines. It’s been a team effort across the board and we are lucky that we have such a depth of leaders and quality personnel at the club.

Our last two wins have been ones where we have really had to dig-deep, and show some real steel and determination. Against quality sides such as Bath and Exeter you need to be fully tuned in for a full 80 minutes and once again on Sunday against another quality Aviva Premiership side we will have to be at our very best.

Wasps are a very dangerous side. They have shown in Europe that they are capable of beating some of the best teams around. They are a well-coached team with a host of exciting players and depth in all positions. We know that we will have to fight for every scrap if we are going to come away with a win.

Sunday’s game is indicative of how tough the league is we play in. Fixtures similar to Wasp’s come thick and fast in this competition and being halfway through the Premiership season now has given us the opportunity to take stock of where we’re at as an organisation and challenge ourselves to maintain the standards we have set on and off the pitch in the last five months. We’re up for it... we hope you are too!

Thanks as always for your support,

Al
