Outstanding Marathon Success

Our fantastic runners proved just how fantastic they are this weekend, when they took on the London Marathon for the Saracens Sport Foundation.

Having completed the gruelling 26 mile course, one member of our staff summed up the experience as the ‘worst but best thing’ he had ever done. Harry and Owain who are both SSF staff members initially signed up to run the marathon in order to provide support for Robbie, who is a member of disability project, Sarrie’s Skills Club. Robbie who suffers with severe Autism won his place in the ballot and along with his father David, ran to raise awareness of Autism and money for the Skills club.

Not only did Robbie and David complete the marathon in a remarkable 4 hours 11 mins, but along the way they have inspired everyone with their story. Their fundraising page ‘Robbies Runners’ has of today hit £7354 -smashing their £6000 target. Donations are still coming in for the fab 4 who have proved just how much can be achieved with the right support.

Fastest team Foundation runner was Alex Daly who zoomed through the finish line in an impressive 3 hours 19 raising over £1600 along the way. This impressive feat works out to £65.33 per mile!

We are so proud of all our runners for their achievements both on the day and in the lead up to the big race. Our thanks to all who took part and to those who supported them on their journey, you have made a huge difference to the community and those who benefit from the work of the Foundation.
