Report: Sarries run riot at the HAC

Saracens powered to a comprehensive 73-7 win at the HAC as the north Londoners ran in 11 tries against IPA Championship outfit London Scottish.

In the double-winners final preseason clash before the beginning of the Aviva Premiership campaign on Saturday September 3rd in the London Double Header there were tries for Marcelo Bosch, Duncan Taylor x2, Jamie George, Ben Spencer, George Kruis, Alex Goode, Chris Wyles, Maro Itoje, Schalk Brits and Sean Maitland.

Marcelo Bosch opened the scoring after some quick hands alongside the backline meant the Argentine international had a simple walk-in. Lozowski converted.

After a runaway try against the run of play from Scottish wing Jason Harries levelled the scores, Scotland international Duncan Taylor finished off a fine counter-attack after Alex Goode and the ever dangerous Chris Ashton combined well in the build-up.

Skipper Jamie George was the next try scorer on the back of powerful driving maul before Ben Spencer rounded off a fine counter attacking move to score his side’s fourth of the evening. Again, Lozowski converted.

There were further tries for Saracens in the first half, with lock forward George Kruis and Alex Goode dotting down for score.

Chris Wyles marked his return from the Rio Olympics with a second half try as Mark McCall looked to introduce his bench players for some valuable game time.

Lock forward Maro Itoje then crossed, with Taylor running in his second of the evening on the hour.

Schalk Brits and Sean Maitland rounded off a successful night for the Men in Black with late tries.
