SARACENS LAUNCH CHARITY CYCLING CHALLENGE
The Saracens Radial Cycle Challenge, a charity cycling event in support of the Saracens Sport Foundation is now open for registration.
This 3 day event will provide the hundreds of lycra wearing cyclists of all abilities with a personal challenge, the opportunity to create memories alongside former Saracens players and likeminded rugby fans, whilst raising funds for a great cause.
The challenge, sponsored by cycling manufacturer Radial, starts at Sandy Park Exeter, on the 23rd June and over 3 days will see participants make their way to Allianz Park in the ultimate Park to Park challenge. Cyclists will be joined by former Saracens players and current coaches, including Hugh Vyvyan, Kevin Sorrell, and Don Barrell amongst others, over the 210 mile route. On the Friday and Saturday night local rugby clubs along the route will host the cyclists, providing some much needed nourishment and refreshments along with some rugby themed entertainment!
One of the first people to register for the event was former Saracens player and current Academy Manager Don Barrell. Commenting on the event Don stated: “Now that I am not playing I was looking for a challenge that would help keep me in shape and cycling has quickly become my preferred activity so the Saracens Radial Cycle Challenge is just perfect. With 210 mile of cycling it is going to be a challenge for cyclists of all abilities but it is also going to be so much fun to be doing it alongside mates and members of the Saracens and rugby family. I hope plenty of Saracens supporters will join us for what I know will be a memorable trip.”
Atul Shah, CEO at Radial, added: “Radial are delighted to be the main sponsor of the Saracens Radial Cycle Challenge and to be supporting the Saracens Sport Foundation. We have brought our industry knowledge, expertise and passion for cycling to create the event with Saracens and it promises to be a fantastic experience. Radial have been hugely impressed with the work the charity does to use the power of sport to inspire communities and change the lives of disadvantaged people and a cycling challenge provides a great opportunity to raise valuable funds whilst doing something fun.”
The event is being organised by Action Challenge, experts in activity challenge events, so you can be guaranteed that all of the logistics will be managed for you, including accommodation, mechanics, medics, route signage and your refreshments and food throughout the 3 days. Sponsors Radial are providing participants with a 15% discount for any purchases made through the Radial online cycling shop, as well as a free high quality cycling jersey. Radial will also be providing training advice and a cycling training session at their Redbridge Cycling Centre in May.
