Saracens have completed the signing of Wales international lock forward Dominic Day for the for the upcoming 2017/18 season.

The former Scarlets and Bath star made his Wales debut against Ireland in Cardiff in 2015, featuring for his country in the World Cup against Uruguay and has played in Japan for Toyota Verblitz and the Rebels since leaving the Aviva Premiership in 2016.

Speaking about Day’s impending arrival, Saracens director of rugby Mark McCall: “We believe Dom will prove to be a fine addition to the group and we are delighted that he has decided to join our club. He is a proven Premiership player, has over 200 career appearances, and who, at the age of 31, is in his prime. On the field, he is precisely the kind of big, dominant lock forward we have been seeking to bolster our squad, and off the field, he is exactly the type of character who we believe will thrive in our culture.”

On his upcoming move to Saracens, Day said: “I'm very much looking forward to joining Saracens next season. They've set the standard across Europe in recent years and when you look at the playing talent already at the club, along with the coaching set up, it's a very exciting prospect to be a part of. The Aviva Premiership is a great competition and I know I'm joining a very motivated and ambitious club which is very important to me. I've gained huge experience from my time in Japan and Super Rugby and I’m returning a better player to hopefully help contribute to the continuing success of Saracens.”

Day joins Calum Clark (Northampton Saints & England), Will Skelton (NSW Waratahs & Australia), Christopher Tolofua (Toulouse & France) and Liam Williams (Scarlets & Wales) as Saracens signings for the upcoming season.
