Saracens v Harlequins: Wembley Match Preview
London rivals Saracens and Harlequins will meet at Wembley for the fifth time on Saturday with home side Saracens having won all but one of those four previous encounters. Last season’s Wembley outing saw Saracens demolish Quins 42-14, adding to Saracens’ good form at the National Stadium which has seen them suffer just three defeats in their previous 12 fixtures at Wembley since 2009.
Saracens will be well aware though of the threat that Harlequins pose though. Quins disrupted Saracens’ 15/16 season 12 twelve game winning streak back in January when they defeated the North London side 29-23 at the Stoop and with the South London side chasing a play-off spot Quins know a win is crucial to their campaign.
Harlequins’ away form has not been consistent this season however and they have not won away from home since they beat Worcester on the 3rd January. They will be looking to change this on Saturday and secure a season’s Premiership Rugby double over Sarries for the first time since 2008/09.
With over 80,000 tickets sold for the game Saracens will be looking forward to another great occasion at Wembley. “I think it’s amazing to have the chance to play in front of such as big crowd” said Alex Goode. “It’s such a great stadium it’s just phenomenal for anyone. It’s an incredible stadium, its just brilliant to play on. The surface is awesome, it’s a massive crowd and playing against a big club like Quins just adds to it”
