Saracens Women name squad for Premiership final

Petrus Du Plessis was superb, and I’m not sure how he wasn’t Man of the Match, as to scrummage that way against Marcos Ayerza takes some doing. I thought he was brilliant today." - See more at: http://www.saracens.com/news-article/mccall-hails-pack-performance-after-tigers-result#sthash.tZ9etc1v.dpuf

Saracens Women have named their side to face Richmond at The Stoop in the Premiership final this Sunday kick-off 17h30.

Number 8 Sonia Green will lead the team, alongside backrow partners of Lauren Newman and England openside Hannah Gallagher.

Spanish international Jeanni Vinueza Yoyola returns to bolster the front row with Geri Thomas at hooker and Canadian Karlee Walters at loosehead prop.

Head coach Rob Cain has opted for the solid second row partnership of Poppy Cleall and Scottish international Fiona Sim.

The backline remains unchanged from that which overcame Lichfield in last week’s semi finals at Allianz Park. Georgie Gulliver and April Brown link up as the experienced half back pairing, whilst Brooke Sim is partnered with England’s Lauren Cattell in the midfield.

In the back three, Nina Vistisen continues at fullback with Lotte Clapp and Deborah Fleming on the wings.

The reigning champions will be looking to add to the record number of titles they hold, having won the Premiership 12 times since Saracens Women were established in 1989.

Speaking ahead of the final Rob Cain reflected on the past seven days – “Last week continued to cement to me that we have a group that have big match mentalities and their inner drive and strength is phenomenal. Our preparation has gone well this week – it’s been relaxed and we’ve been working on a few small details that will hopefully give us the edge come kick off on Sunday. Each week the opposition has risen to the challenge of playing against us and each week the response from our players has been outstanding. We are hungry, determined and under no illusions that we have an unbelievable tough game against Richmond at the Stoop.”
