Storm announce side for A-League opener

Saracens Storm have named their first side of the season to face the Exeter Braves in tonight’s A-League fixture at Sandy Park.

The reigning A-League champions have included summer signing Samuel Vunisa (pictured), with the Italy international named at No8 alongside Kelly Brown and Samu Maka in the Storm back row.

Elsewhere in the Storm pack, Australian hooker Dave Porecki starts alongside Richard Barrington (loosehead prop) and Titi Lamositele (tighthead prop) in the front row. At lock, Hayden Thompson-Stringer is joined by Esher’s Jack Tredrea.

In the backs, former England U20s World Championship winning scrum half Henry Taylor partners new recruit Baden Kerr in the halves, whilst Nils Mordt skippers the side from inside centre alongside Tim Streather.

Romanian World Cup star Catalin Fercu starts at full-back and is joined by Mike Ellery (right wing) and Nathan Earle (left wing) in an exciting Storm back three.

Saracens Storm coach, Kevin Sorrell: “We’re all really excited for this group to be heading into a new season in the A League. Every time the Storm team took to the field last season they provided the club with a huge lift, such was their enthusiasm and togetherness.

“We’re really looking forward to be kicking off the campaign tonight against a very strong Braves side.”
