South Oxhey Choir come to Vicarage Road

07 Dec 2009 - 08:25

The now famous South Oxhey Choir from the BBC TV series 'The Choir: Unsung Town’ will be teaming up with Saracens to sing some festive songs on Saturday 19th December at Vicarage Road when Saracens face Castres in the Amlin Challenge Cup.

Gareth Malone the British choirmaster and broadcaster has made a name for himself via his TV appearances on the Bafta award winning BBC TV series The Choir. The charismatic choirmaster faced the biggest challenge of his life in October last year when he went on a mission to create a choir in the Hertfordshire housing estate of South Oxhey.

He made it his mission to turn South Oxhey, a sprawling housing estate just outside Watford, into a centre of choral excellence by drawing in people from every section of the community, from children to OAPs, and creating one vast choir. Now Gareth believes his choir can hold its own among Hertfordshire's best.

Performing a range of pop songs and classical pieces, they have already performed at the Watford Colosseum and St Albans Cathedral, Hertfordshire's most prestigious venues. And now they’re at Saracens!

Come and see not only the Guinness Premiership leaders in action against European rivals Castres but also get in the Christmas spirit with the South Oxhey Choir and see how far they have come.

Tickets from just £14.50 for adults and £5 for U16’s.
