Porecki hoping to grasp Saracens opportunity

Australian hooker Dave Porecki is hoping to make the most of his time at Saracens, after the club announced the 22-year old Manly front rower has joined the club on a short-term deal.

With Schalk Brits away with the Springboks and Jamie George in England camp in Denver, the former NSW Waratahs hooker has joined the club as World Cup cover.

An abrasive ball carrier, Porecki has been training with the Premiership Champions since the club returned to preseason. On his move to Allianz Park, Porecki said: “All the boys have been very welcoming since I’ve arrived and the coaching staff have been great with me. It’s a great opportunity and one I’m looking forward to making the most of.

“Saracens had the opportunity to bring a young hooker into the club with a few guys away on international duty and one or two rehabbing from injury, so I was more than happy to come over to join a great team.

“From day one I’ve felt pretty settled, we’ve all been working hard as a group and it’s been an awesome experience so far. I’m working as hard as I can every day to get as much as I can out of this experience. I’m a young hooker, so to come into one of the best teams in Europe is an amazing opportunity for me to improve on aspects of my game."

He added: “It’s all positive right now, and I’m loving life.”
