Director of Rugby Mark McCall was delighted with his Saracens side, as they recorded a 31-11 bonus point victory over the Exeter Chiefs.
Playing in the first Premiership match at Allianz Park, McCall paid tribute to his team’s new surroundings and in particular, the atmosphere the Saracens fans generated.
He said: “The big thing today was the atmosphere. What a great atmosphere we had here today. We have all been to Vicarage Road and we haven’t experienced anything like that.”
Reflecting the win, McCall picked out man of the match Mako Vunipola, and predicted that the England International would have a “huge future”
He added: “What a player he’s going to be (Vunipola ), in fact he’s a superb player now, but Mako has a huge future in this game, and he is going to be a special, special, special player. The thing that impressed me about Mako today was his performance in the tight. I though he scrummaged very well.”
“It was a terrific day and a huge amount of work has gone into what you have seen around you. The pitch was quick and talking to the players after the match, it seemed as though they enjoyed it.”
