Saracens beat Gloucester at the HAC
Saracens beat Gloucester Rugby 45-12 at the HAC in the heart of The City of London.
Romanian winger Catalin Fercu (who joined up with the squad from Saracens latest Global Network side Timisoara earlier this week) ran in four tries, as an exciting Saracens side brushed aside a Gloucester team that included All Black scrum-half Jimmy Cowan.
In the first half, Saracens raced into a 21-0 lead through tries from Fercu, the impressive full-back Will Edwards and centre Tim Streather.
Gloucester hit back before the break with a score of their own, as Saracens were reduced to 14-men with captain Justin Melck sitting in the sin-bin for a professional foul, with the scores 21-7 at the break.
In the second half, as both sides rotated their respective sides and it was Saracens who scored first, as rampaging lock forward Eoin Sheriff powered his way over to score.
The Cherry and Whites responded through a try from winger Monahan, but it was Sarries Romanian flyer who would steal the show in the final 30 minutes as he added another three tries to take his haul for the day to four.
The soon to be retired Justin Melck hooked his conversion attempt wide as referee brought a end to an exciting contest.
