Saracens coaches touch down in Seattle

Academy coach Ian Vass and Community coach Simone Shepherd are spending a week with Seattle Saracens, as a part of the Saracens Global Network coaching exchange.

The pair touched down in the Emerald City on Sunday night, and began coaching with Seattle Saracens yesterday. It’s the first time Seattle Saracens have had the opportunity to work with Saracens coaches after they joined the Global Network in June last year.

Vass will be specifically working on defence with all the Seattle Saracens senior teams, whilst Shepherd will lend her expertise to the club’s women’s teams, and provide information on the community projects that Saracens runs in the UK.

Vass and Shepherd will also be spending some time with Serevi Rugby, a company founded to act as a platform to grow rugby in the USA.

“I’m really looking forward to the experience. Seattle Saracens are doing really well in the U.S, and have some great players in the club. Hopefully I can improve them even further,” said Vass.

Simone was also relishing the opportunity to coach the Seattle Women’s side: “Like the men, Seattle Saracens Women had a great 2014 and are one of the strongest sides in the U.S. The Saracens Global Network has given us the chance to come over here and pass on some of our knowledge – I’m sure it’s going to be a great week!
