Director of Rugby Mark McCall was left to ask what might have been after Saracens were knocked out of the LV=Cup by Northampton.
“I think we will reflect and look back at what might have been. The first 50 minutes if the game I though we played really well, and we had three really big opportunities that we didn’t convert. Against a team like Northampton you have to convert the chances when they come along – they were very clinical and the game just got away from us”.
Despite his dissapointment of his side missing out on the LV=Cup showpiece next weekend, McCall took time out to praise some of his younger squad members for their efforts in the game.
“It was a good experience for some of our younger players today” said McCall. “I thought Matt Hankin was outstanding today – he really stood up against a strong Northampton pack. It’s an important part of their progression playing games like this against teams like Northampton. and in front of crowds like this, and in the most part I thought they did very well.”
