Front-rower Jared Saunders said he was pleased with another outing in the LV=Cup, as the rugged front-rower helped Saracens to a 51-10 win over the Scarlets.
“It was awesome to get 80 minutes today” said Saunders.
“It was very tiring by the end of the game but it was great to get out there and get some proper rugby under my belt”.
Saunders started the game at loose-head prop, and then reverted back to hooker before being moved to back-row in enforced reshuffle due to the unfortunate injury to Mouritz Botha, and Saunders said that the change in position passed him by in a game that the 23 year-old front-rower described as “rapid”
“I played three positions today; at loosehead, at hooker and in the back row – just put it this way I’m a stronger front rower than I am a back-rower!”.
“It was absolute rapid out there” he said.
“Honestly I didn’t expect it to be that quick. In the first half they really did catch us out with the pace they played at, but I think that we must give ourselves some credit to how we adapted quickly to those threats, and to keep them scoreless for the majority of the game is very pleasing.
“I’m very pleased with my form in the LV=Cup, but more importantly I’m very happy with how we have recorded two bonus point wins in the competition. It’s given us a massive boost going into next week when we get back to the Premiership” added Saunders.
