Schalk Brits was ecstatic with his return the field yesterday, with the likable hooker paying tribute to his fellow forwards for his second half try, and he cheekily warned his hooking partner Jamie George that he is slowly catching him up in the try scoring charts.
“It was an awesome day. It really is great too back on the pitch doing what I love doing, playing rugby – especially with good mates like this. It makes it so much better”.
“As players we love playing at home in front of our own fans. The atmosphere at Allianz Park is brilliant, and we are already looking forward to next week’s game against Bath” said the South African international.
“Firstly, that try wasn’t my try really, I just finished off a well-executed move” revealed Brits.
“That was the packs try really – it was a massive maul that worked really well and it is something that we have worked really hard on with Paul Gustard and Alex Sanderson, and it’s paid off for us today”.
Referring to his and Jamie George’s preseason wager regarding try scoring Brits said; “It was nice to score- Jamie (George) is one up on me now, but maybe he’ll be giving me back one of the chocolate bars I gave him last week. Slowly but surely I’m catching him up” he joked.
