Hooker Jamie George believed that the Allianz Park pitch contributed to Saracens’ 49 – 10 victory over champions Leicester Tigers.
“I think it kept the game relatively quick obviously without the mud the ball isn’t as slippery. You’re not rolling around in the mud all day, which is quite nice” said George after the game.
“I think it kept for a good game and kept the game relatively quick in what was pretty difficult conditions.”
The former England U20s player has cemented his place in the Saracens’ s squad this season, with the 23-year-old racking up a full game against the Tigers.
“It was tiring. I wasn’t expecting a full 80 minutes. It was actually my first 80 minutes for a long time.”
However, it wasn’t just about personal gain for George who was quick to heap praise on his teammates.
“There is no better feeling than that, putting in a performance like that with a great group of friends and a brilliant team. For me personally it was just great to be out there with an amazing group of guys. We put in a really good performance today.”
The squad will now have a couple of days to enjoy the festive period however George insists they will not take their eyes off the ball.
“It is a brilliant way to send off for Christmas. We’ve got our Christmas party now so going to enjoy that and have a good festive period, then focus on Worcester on the 28th.”
