Smit to leave Saracens at the end of the season


John Smit will leave Saracens at the end of the current season and take up the position as chief executive of  The Sharks, the South African provincial team based in Durban.

The World Cup winning captain has made 42 appearances for Saracens since joining in 2011.

Nigel Wray, chairman, said: “Even in the short time he has been with us, John has made an outstanding contribution is so many ways. He is a leader and an individual of the very highest quality and, as I’m sure the Sharks know very well, any organization led by John Smit will be in good hands.”
