After starting his first game for Saracens in 16 weeks against the Exeter Chiefs last weekend Joel Tomkins has retained his place in the Saracens starting XV for tonight’s trip away to Bath, and backs coach Kevin Sorrell was impressed with the England international’s return to action.
“To see Joel make those couple of clean breaks against the Chiefs was brilliant, and I think his overall contribution to the team was fantastic” said Sorrell.
“He’s picked up from where he left off at the beginning of the season – he’s got a great offloading ability and he can put others around him in the space, we saw that last weekend and hopefully he can do the same on Friday evening.
Sorrell added; “The progression Joel has made has been enormous and the attention he puts into his own game is huge. He’s progressed into a player that has performed in the high end of tough European matches and is a real asset to us as a club. We’re pretty blessed at Saracens as we have a fantastic depth of talent, and Joel is certainly one of them”.
