Spencer hails 'biggest win'

Ben Spencer has hailed Saracens LV=Cup win away to London Welsh as the clubs finest of the season.

A makeshift Saracens side travelled to Oxford to face an Exiles team that included the vast majority of their first team regulars in a starting line-up that boasted the likes of the former Toulon, Northampton and England centre Tom May, ex-England star Olly Barkley plus seasoned Premiership players such as Dean Schofield named on their bench.

In a tight contest, it was Saracens who came out on top with Spencer contributing 15 points in an impressive personal display from scrum-half.

Speaking after the game, Spencer said: “We said it in the huddle after the game that today was one of the club’s biggest wins of the season considering the circumstances including the Storm final To come here and beat what is pretty much London Welsh’s strongest team is fantastic. To get a result with guys who came into the team this week is phenomenal."

He added: “It was a tough game, but we showed enough character to get the win. We’re delighted with the win.”
