Last week at Allianz Park, the community department at Saracens held another successful summer rugby camp for 125 children aged 6-16.
The course which ran for five days, gave young players the opportunity to develop their rugby skills with Saracens coaches, whatever skill level. Not only do they gain experience in playing the sport, but the team at Saracens always urge that the young talent play with commitment, passion, discipline and respect, to reflect the values of the club, whilst working as a team.
The Complete Skills Week allows participants to cover all rugby aspects such as, Tackling/Tagging, Fundamentals of Handling, Breakdown Management, Champagne Rugby, SAQ and Decision Making whilst progressing each skill every day leading to matches on the final day in front of proud parents.
Tom, one of many participants, said “I enjoyed the tackling the most because it was the most challenging and fun” while Jack thought the ‘tag rugby was the best throughout the week’ and he ‘looked forward to that the most.’
James Tirrell, Saracens Rugby Development Officer spoke of the values for kids taking part “The camp offers great opportunities for young rugby players and teaches them vital skills about rugby through the coaching we provide”
This summer was the most successful in Saracens history as all 16 camps sold out whilst over 1150 participants took part in the clinics across 5 counties.
