Saracens - Summer Project Update

Summer Project Update

School of Cheer Elite

This Season our Saracens School of Cheer branched out further and created the Competitive cheerleading programme that is Saracens Elite. This team was selected from existing School of Cheer athletes and trains fortnightly over the period of the season. Saracens Elite entered three regional and national competitions this season and placed an impressive 5th, 2nd and 1st in large divisions up against experienced and renowned teams!

A massive congratulations is in order to the Senior Level One All – Girl Team Saracens Elite in their first impressive season.

HITZ Learning Academy

It’s been an exciting period for HITZ. HITZ is a programme for young people aged between 14-18. Aimed at disadvantaged young people, the programme blends issue based sessions with rugby coaching to help increase confidence, resilience and motivation. The sessions enable the participants to explore their own self-development in a supportive environment and can help to make informed and positive life choices.

Rugby sits perfectly within the programme and is used as a tool for positive social change; it’s very essence leads to an increase in discipline, self-control and respect, not to mention the endless health benefits for the students.

“HITZ On Track” a branch of HITZ, is delivered within an existing school’s curriculum for 14-16 year olds. The 6-week programme is designed to keep the participants “on track” by exposing them to content that empowers them in their personal development.

At the start of June, “HITZ On Track” visited St Joan Of Arc School in Rickmansworth and was delivered to over 140 girls aged between 14-15. Currently in the middle of the 6 week cycle, the programme has seen regular attendance, with the girls and teacher enquiring about setting up a HITZ girls team at their school.

Such exciting times as Saracens HITZ could see it’s first ever all girl’s rugby team (or teams!)
