Earlier today, Tuesday 16th July, Enfield Ignatians RFC played host to the last of the 2012/13 tag rugby festivals put on by the Saracens Community team. In soaring heat schools that had participated in the AVIVA Premiership Rugby Schools Programme and the MBNA Tackling Numbers programme throughout this last term arrived ready to compete.
The day began with schools working around three different activity stations recapping key rules and developing personal team skills, the teams were now in a position to compete against each other in a festival format. Pupils from; St Michaels, Fleecefield, St Monica’s, Eversley Primary School and Cuckoo Hall Academy played out 6 fixtures, competing in 2 pools for the top two in each reaching the semi finals and ultimately the final.
St Monica’s Primary and Eversley Primary succeeded in putting together a thrilling finale which went into a nail biting sudden death finish with Eversley eventually winning on the golden try rule to become year 4 Enfield Tag rugby champions 2012/13
“ A fantastic day for the pupils to put into practice the skills they have gained through the school coaching this year, a very well run day by all involved, and we look forward to being involved next year”
Andrew Blount – Eversley Primary school
